ViaMar AS is an independent shipping market analyst, comprising of three analysts with over 60 years combined experience in shipping. Our analysts have broad industry experiences, including commercial management as ship-owners at a senior management level, experience in ship brokerage, and long careers as shipping market analysts. We work as a close and independent advisor for a growing number of clients. ViaMar AS's sole commercial activity is the production of analytical reports, data and research support in a close and confidential manner. We function as an out-of-house analyst for ship-owners, traders, charterers and financial institutions.

Our dry bulk market services include the following:

  • Business environment; Oil price development and economic growth in the key importing and exporting regions, the United States, OECD Europe, Japan, China and Other Asia.

  • Dry bulk demand with focus on seaborne trade of Iron Ore, Met Coal, Steam Coal, Grain, Steel Products and Other Dry Bulk Commodities to the key importing regions.

  •  Based on the above assumptions and evaluations, we estimate total seaborne trade of dry bulk commodities and total demand for dry bulk carriers measured in dwt.

  •  The supply side will be analysed through a detailed study of ordering, deliveries and scrapping of dry bulk and combined carriers, measured in dwt.

  •  Through a comparison between supply and demand, we will estimate the future dry bulk tonnage balance, utilisation rate, and utilise this to develop forecasts of dry bulk freight rates with focus on Handy and Panamax size bulk carriers.
